Asian Civilisations Museum brings together diverse musical acts in a sensory celebration of sound.

SINGAPORE – From 13 to 15 June 2025, the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) will transform into a vibrant hub of sound, storytelling, and cultural expression as it presents “Listening Pleasures,” a weekend-only event exploring the power of music across Asia.

The programme features an eclectic mix of local musicians delivering live performances and intimate gallery gigs, reimagining iconic genres from across the region. Visitors can expect a musical journey that bridges tradition and modernity, from classical Indian Karnatik and Chinese guqin music to reinterpretations of Malay pop and contemporary indie sounds.

Highlights include “Elegant Sounds of the Guqin” by Eight Tones Music, staged within the newly renovated Scholars Gallery, which complements ACM’s new exhibition Elegant Sounds: Music, Craft, and the Literati. In a tribute to Southeast Asian music, indie band Space Walk presents Nusantara.wav, a fresh take on regional classics by legends such as P. Ramlee and Sandra Reemer.

Adding a deeply personal dimension, Sushma Soma teams up with electric guitarist Isuru Wijesoma for Karnatik Journey, blending tradition with contemporary expression. Meanwhile, singer-songwriter YAØ will debut Radio Geisha The Album Pt.1 on 14 June—just one day after its global release—offering audiences a reflective performance on identity and ambition.

Additional highlights include storytelling sessions, ASMR soundscapes, and free hands-on workshops themed around listening and musical appreciation.

This weekend event aligns with ACM’s ongoing mission to foster cultural understanding through immersive experiences, bringing music and heritage into dialogue in new and engaging ways.
