Inaugural service marks new chapter in connectivity between Southeast Asia and Central Europe.

VIENNA – Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), marked a key milestone with the launch of its inaugural direct service from Singapore to Vienna, Austria. The new route, operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, positions Scoot as the only airline currently offering non-stop flights between the two cities.

Flight TR710 was welcomed at Vienna International Airport with a traditional water cannon salute, witnessed by representatives from Scoot, Austria Tourism, Vienna Airport, and other industry partners.

The occasion was celebrated in true cultural fashion. Travellers on the inaugural flights TR710 and TR711 were treated to Vienna-themed souvenirs, including artisanal chocolates and fan memorabilia. To further commemorate the event, Scoot invited the Singapore-based T’ang Quartet to deliver a live classical music performance onboard, enhancing the travel experience with a blend of musical elegance and local flair.

Speaking at the event, Mr Ng Chee Keong, Chief Operating Officer of Scoot, emphasised the strategic value of the new route. “Vienna makes an exciting gateway for travellers from the Asia-Pacific to explore Europe’s rich history and heritage. For European residents, this new route also provides more options for customers to experience the vibrant sights of Singapore and other cities in Southeast Asia.”

Vienna Airport’s Joint CEO Mr Julian Jäger welcomed the move, noting that the route would significantly strengthen connectivity between Asia and Austria. “We are delighted to welcome Scoot to Vienna. This new route between Vienna and Singapore not only enhances our airport’s connectivity to Asia, but also allows travellers from both regions greater accessibility and cultural exchanges. We look forward to a successful partnership with Scoot, contributing to the growth in Austria and the Asia-Pacific’s travel and tourism industries,” he said.

With Vienna added to its growing network, Scoot now flies to 73 destinations across 18 countries and territories, including key markets in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Europe. The airline continues to focus on expanding long-haul travel options, offering cost-effective and comfortable journeys that cater to diverse traveller preferences.
