Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim highlights the need for equity and cross-border cooperation in Asia’s energy shift.

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 June 2025 – Energy Asia 2025 has officially opened in Malaysia under the theme “Delivering Asia’s Energy Transition”, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators from across the region to tackle the urgent challenges of decarbonisation, energy security, and sustainable growth.

At the opening ceremony, Malaysia’s Prime Minister, The Honourable Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, delivered the keynote address, urging stakeholders to ensure Asia’s energy transition is equitable and inclusive. Emphasising rising regional energy demands, he called for clear and pragmatic policies, greater green investments, and enhanced cross-border collaboration to ensure no community is left behind in the shift from fossil fuels to cleaner, efficient energy systems.

Since its inception in 2023, Energy Asia has become a key platform for dialogue on sustainable development in Asia’s diverse energy landscape. This year’s edition focuses on balancing national economic interests with environmental goals, promoting renewable energy adoption, scaling climate finance, and leveraging regional cooperation
