Pre-event briefing outlines expectations for visitor turnout, trade value, and highlights from Malaysia’s agrofood and tourism sectors.

SINGAPORE, 8 July 2025 – A media conference was held at the Singapore Expo on Tuesday to announce the upcoming Malaysia Fest 2025, which aims to draw 180,000 visitors and generate RM15 million in direct sales during its four-day run from 31 July to 3 August.

The media event commenced with the arrival of media personnel, followed by a panel session featuring H.E. Dato’ Dr Azfar Mohamad Mustafar, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore; Mr Haji Aminuddin Bin Zulkipli, Chairman of the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA); and Mr Hamzah Hj Abdullah, Managing Director of MegaXpress International Pte Ltd. The session concluded with a Q&A and refreshments.

Speaking at the press conference, FAMA Chairman Haji Aminuddin shared that the eighth edition of Malaysia Fest will take place at Halls 5A and 5B of the Singapore EXPO Convention Centre. Organised by MegaXpress International in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security through FAMA, the event will feature 321 booths offering a wide range of Malaysian agrofood products, health and beauty items, and tourism packages.

“This programme is designed to give Malaysian entrepreneurs a platform to promote their goods to Singapore consumers, while also building meaningful business linkages with importers and trade partners,” he said. FAMA will be showcasing 10 tonnes of tropical and seasonal fruits, including new-to-market varieties such as limau susu from Sarawak, Pitaya Twin from Negeri Sembilan, and Abiu fruit from Johor. In total, more than 1,500 stock-keeping units (SKUs) will be available at the event.

Mr Aminuddin added that FAMA will also carry out market intelligence studies to assess the competitiveness and export readiness of Malaysian products in the Singapore market.

The High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore, Dato’ Dr Azfar Mohamad Mustafar, noted the consistently strong demand for Malaysian fruits and agro-based products in Singapore. He cited a steady increase in trade value between both countries in this segment, which rose from RM400 million in 2020 to close to RM500 million by 2023. “Singaporeans’ purchasing power has made it feasible to market premium Malaysian products here that may be less viable domestically,” he observed. “Malaysia Fest will also help micro, small, and medium enterprises gain a foothold in Singapore’s market and support the promotion of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.”

Representing Tourism Malaysia (Singapore), Director Norliza Md Zain announced that 16 Malaysian tourism companies will participate in the expo to offer packages to Singapore consumers. In addition to trade and tourism, the event will host a line-up of Malaysian celebrities, including Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Datuk Seri Vida, Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri, and Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim, adding entertainment appeal to the showcase.

Themed “Unlock The Treasures of Malaysia”, Malaysia Fest 2025 will run from 10 am to 10 pm daily, providing Singapore visitors with a comprehensive experience of Malaysian culture, food, and travel opportunities.
