Mrs Chonlatee Chanrachakul presides over the traditional Wian Tian ceremony at Wat Ananda Metyarama Thai Buddhist Temple.
On Thursday, 10 July 2025, Mrs Chonlatee Chanrachakul, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore, presided over a candlelight procession held to mark Asalha Bucha Day. Representing the Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, Mrs Chanrachakul led the ceremony at Wat Ananda Metyarama Thai Buddhist Temple.
The sacred observance, known as Wian Tian, drew officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, representatives from Team Thailand agencies, and a large gathering of Buddhist devotees of both Thai and Singaporean descent.

Participants performed three rounds of light-waving rites, symbolically circling the temple with lighted candles, incense, and flowers. This ritual pays homage to the Triple Gem — the Buddha, the Dhamma and the Sangha. The event highlighted the strong cultural and spiritual ties shared by the Thai community in Singapore and reinforced the temple’s role as a centre for religious gatherings and Thai traditions abroad.
