The inaugural Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Festival in Singapore promotes trade connections, cultural exchange, and the export potential of Vietnamese produce.
Singapore, 18 July 2025 — The Trade Office of the Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore, in coordination with the Singapore Fruit and Vegetable Importers and Exporters Association (SFVIEA), successfully launched the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Festival 2025 in Singapore. The trade connection programme, held with the support of the Singapore Food Authority (SFA), marked the first collaborative initiative between the two organisations in the sector of Vietnamese agricultural trade.

The Festival attracted more than 130 participants, including representatives from 15 embassies and consulates, Singapore’s business management agencies, industry federations, chambers of commerce, supermarket systems, hospitality networks, importers, exporters, and international organisations based in Singapore. Eleven Vietnamese enterprises took part in the event, directly showcasing a wide array of fruits and vegetables such as durians, Hoa Loc and Chu mangoes, lychees, longans, bananas, dragon fruit, jackfruit, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, herbs, and more.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Tran Phuoc Anh, expressed pride in Vietnam’s robust agricultural production capabilities, highlighting the country’s consistent performance in fruit and vegetable exports. In 2024, Vietnam exported over USD 7.12 billion worth of produce, with projections for 2025 expected to exceed USD 8 billion. Ambassador Tran noted that Vietnamese fruits and vegetables are globally appreciated for their high quality and rich flavour.
Mr. Leong Der Yao, Deputy Director General of the Singapore Food Authority, emphasised Singapore’s continued commitment to strengthening agricultural trade ties with Vietnam. He remarked that the Festival had created meaningful platforms for dialogue, partnership, and cooperation, while also reaffirming the shared goals of both countries in the food trade sector.

Mr. Jerry Tan Soon Huat, Vice President of SFVIEA, underlined the growing importance of Vietnamese produce in Singapore’s supply chain. He pointed to Vietnam’s consistent agricultural output and increasing product quality as promising factors for expanding bilateral cooperation in this area.

Trade Counselor and Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore, Mr. Cao Xuan Thang, shared that the event was the culmination of long-standing efforts to build a trade promotion model that integrates business engagement with cultural diplomacy. He noted that Singapore’s role as a regional trading hub offers strategic advantages for Vietnamese enterprises looking to access not only the Singaporean market but also international markets via Singapore.
The Festival served as a vital opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to network with major players in Singapore’s food industry — including supermarkets, wholesale and retail distributors, chambers of commerce, and hotel supply chains. By combining trade promotion with culinary cultural exposure, the event also introduced international attendees to Vietnamese cuisine, reinforcing the country’s agricultural identity.

The success of this model opens up possibilities for similar trade promotion efforts in other product categories. It further aligns with the broader objectives of the Vietnam–Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which continues to expand cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and food security.
