The Embassy reaffirms commitment to humanitarian principles as the Philippines prepares to host a regional IHL conference this August
SINGAPORE — The Philippine Embassy in Singapore has joined the international community in commemorating International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Month this August 2025. This observance highlights the Philippines’ longstanding commitment to the promotion and implementation of IHL both domestically and across the region.
This year, the Philippines will host the Asia Pacific Regional Conference on International Humanitarian Law, which aims to bring together key stakeholders under the theme: “Galvanising Commitment to International Humanitarian Law: Challenges and Opportunities in the Asia Pacific Region.”
The Philippines holds a distinguished record in championing humanitarian law. It has ratified all four Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols, was the first country in Southeast Asia to pass a National IHL Act, and has since established a National IHL Committee.
The Embassy underscored its ongoing dedication to upholding humanitarian principles and legal norms that protect individuals in times of armed conflict — in the Philippines, in the wider region, and globally.
