Minister Chan Chun Sing meets Indonesian Vice Coordinating Minister Lodewijk Paulus to strengthen bilateral ties in defence and public service.
As part of his introductory visit to Indonesia, Coordinating Minister for Public Services and Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing met with Vice Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Mr Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus. The meeting, held on 6 August 2025, focused on enhancing bilateral collaboration in the security sector and promoting mutual understanding through professional and people-to-people exchanges.
Both sides exchanged views on regional security developments and discussed ways to broaden cooperation through regular engagement and institutional linkages. They also reaffirmed the importance of maintaining strong communication and trust between Singapore and Indonesia, particularly in light of evolving regional dynamics.
In addition to his official meetings, Mr Chan visited a kitchen facility supported by the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI) under Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meals programme (Makanan Bergizi Gratis). The initiative aims to provide healthy meals to schoolchildren across the country.

Following the kitchen tour, Mr Chan visited Rawa Badak Utara 01 Public Primary School, where students were seen enjoying meals prepared by the TNI-assisted kitchen earlier that morning. The visit highlighted the intersection of defence and public service in supporting broader national initiatives, particularly those focused on youth and social development.
