Dr. Badr Abdel Aati inaugurates the first annual conference of Egyptian diplomatic missions, focusing on strengthening Egypt’s international standing and supporting Egyptian communities abroad.

CAIRO — On Sunday, August 10, 2025, Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, opened the first annual conference of Egyptian heads of diplomatic missions abroad. The conference, held in Cairo, gathered Egyptian ambassadors, consular heads, and ministry leaders to discuss Egypt’s foreign policy priorities, the development of consular services, and the enhancement of economic opportunities for Egyptian communities abroad.

In his opening remarks, Minister Abdel Aati emphasised the critical role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in safeguarding Egypt’s interests abroad. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to restructure the ministry, improve institutional performance, and develop capacity-building programmes for staff. The minister also stressed the importance of Egyptian missions abroad in driving foreign investment, enhancing trade, and expanding the reach of Egyptian exports.

The conference also addressed Egypt’s approach to key regional and international issues, underscoring the government’s commitment to maintaining a balanced foreign policy amidst evolving global dynamics. Minister Abdel Aati reaffirmed that national interest remains the cornerstone of Egypt’s foreign policy, stressing the need for enhanced coordination with host countries to achieve mutual benefits.

Furthermore, the Minister focused on the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to improve consular services for Egyptians living abroad. He discussed the digitalisation of services and the importance of engaging regularly with Egyptian expatriates to better understand their concerns and needs. Cultural diplomacy was also a key focus, with the minister stressing the role of Egyptian missions in promoting Egypt’s cultural heritage and strengthening international relations.
