Madam Ang Sing Yee is recognised for her dedication to inclusive education and unwavering commitment to nurturing every child’s potential.

Thailand, 2025 — Singapore’s Madam Ang Sing Yee has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Princess Maha Chakri Award (PMCA) by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand. The award, a royal honour established in 2015, is presented biennially to one outstanding teacher from each of the 11 SEAMEO member countries for their excellence in teaching and dedication to shaping future generations.

Singapore’s tradition of honouring exceptional educators through the Princess Maha Chakri Award began in 2015 with Mrs Wang Lim Ai Lian, a dedicated teacher at Holy Innocents’ Primary School and champion for students with special needs. In 2017, Sarabjeet Kaur Hardip Singh was honoured as one of Southeast Asia’s most outstanding teachers for her exceptional dedication and educational impact. In 2021, Mr Yok Joon Meng from a Singapore school was also selected as the country’s PMCA recipient. More recently, in 2023, Mdm Chong Chew Luan Penny of Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School was celebrated for her inclusive work nurturing visually impaired students through Braille materials and collaborative programmes. And now, in 2025, Madam Ang Sing Yee continues Singapore’s legacy by being recognised for her outstanding contributions to inclusive education and student development.

Madam Ang’s passion for inclusivity stems from her belief that “every child has a unique potential and strength.” As Team Lead for Special Educational Needs at Compassvale Secondary School, she worked closely with the school’s Special Educational Needs Officer to create a nurturing environment that supports students academically, socially, and emotionally.

After more than two decades in schools, Madam Ang moved to the Ministry of Education headquarters to address complex student needs at the policy level. Her work on the Teacher–Student Relationship Inventory has been shared nationally, inspiring educators across Singapore.

“Every child deserves a champion—an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can possibly be.” This belief has guided her through challenges and inspired her to never give up on any student.
