KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – The Muslim World League (MWL) concluded a significant international forum on Monday, 1 September 2025, in Kuala Lumpur. The event, titled the “International Forum for the Authentication of Qur’anic Ijazah and Honoring ASEAN Qur’an Reciters”, drew thousands of participants, including numerous officials and Quran memorizers from across Southeast Asia. The forum’s primary objective was to improve the verification of Quranic licences, known as Ijazah.

The forum was organised as part of the MWL’s ongoing efforts to uphold the sanctity and correct recitation of the Holy Quran. It directly addressed concerns about the validity of certain certifications that have been granted without adequate proficiency checks. The meeting aimed to foster greater collaboration and expertise exchange among institutions that specialize in reviewing and certifying Quranic licenses.

He emphasised the stringent standards employed by the MWL’s Qur’an and Sunnah Service Agency. These standards are guided by the expertise of the Global Council of Quran Recitation Scholars.

The event also celebrated the contributions of prominent Quran reciters from ASEAN countries. They were honoured for their significant roles in disseminating and teaching the holy book. The forum provided a platform to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of Quranic knowledge is preserved for future generations.
