SMF hosted an industry exchange on 26 August 2025, bringing together pharmaceutical and MedTech stakeholders from Singapore and the Philippines to explore opportunities in distribution, clinical trials, and innovation.

Singapore, 26 August 2025 – The Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) hosted a cross-border pharmaceutical and medical technology industry exchange with Philippine partners on Tuesday, 26 August 2025. The meeting served as a platform for strengthening collaboration between the two countries’ healthcare industries, highlighting opportunities for business growth, innovation, and regulatory alignment.

The exchange focused on several key areas. Participants examined distribution opportunities for medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and over-the-counter (OTC) products within the Philippines’ fast-growing market. Discussions also centred on advancing clinical trial partnerships, particularly for Phase II and Phase III medical devices, leveraging the Philippines’ large population as a broad patient and volunteer base for research and development.

Another focus was forging partnerships between Singaporean startups and Philippine firms, combining high-tech innovation with the Philippines’ manufacturing capacity and cost-effective structure. Regulatory frameworks were also addressed, including the role of Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PICS) inspections in supporting global standards and enhancing market access.

The event brought together organisations such as The Medical City – Iloilo, Swiss Pharma Research Laboratories, and Unilab, Inc., alongside key government agencies including the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) and the Department of Trade and Industry – Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB).

The exchange underscored the shared commitment of Singapore and the Philippines to foster stronger cross-border partnerships, promote innovation in pharmaceuticals and MedTech, and enhance access to quality healthcare across the region.
