Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang made his first official visit to Singapore from 25 to 26 October 2025, marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China. The visit reciprocated Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong’s earlier trip to China this year, underscoring the sustained momentum of bilateral engagement.

During the visit, Premier Li met Prime Minister Wong. Both leaders witnessed the exchange of eight Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) covering areas such as green development, the digital economy, and training and development. Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Sim Ann represented Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the exchange of an MOU under the Singapore-China Third Country Training Programme, which aims to support capacity building in developing countries.

Premier Li also called on Acting President Eddie Teo and attended the Singapore-China Business Roundtable hosted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. The roundtable brought together leaders from both the public and private sectors to explore new opportunities for collaboration and sustainable growth.

Singapore and China share a long-standing and forward-looking relationship built on regular high-level exchanges, robust economic ties, and growing people-to-people links. For 12 consecutive years, China has been Singapore’s largest trading partner, while Singapore remains China’s largest foreign investor — a testament to the enduring strength of their partnership.

Premier Li’s visit reaffirmed the deepening of this partnership, which continues to drive innovation and shared prosperity, benefiting both nations and contributing to regional stability and development.
