A visiting MBA delegation from Wits Business School explored Singapore’s governance model, innovation landscape, and economic transformation as part of a global immersion programme.
Singapore continued to strengthen its educational and economic ties with South Africa as the South African High Commission in Singapore hosted an MBA cohort from Wits Business School, University of the Witwatersrand, from 9 to 11 November 2025. The delegation, comprising 14 students and three faculty leaders led by Prof. Emmanuel Quay, visited Singapore as part of an international immersion programme embedded in the university’s MBA curriculum.
During the visit, the group examined Singapore’s evolution from a developing nation to a global economic hub, gaining insights into policy-making, innovation-led growth, ease of doing business, and sustainable development. Their engagements highlighted Singapore’s reputation as a model of efficient governance, forward-looking economic planning, and technological adaptation.

On the first day of the programme, the delegation was welcomed by South African High Commissioner to Singapore, H.E. Madiepetsane Charlotte Lobe. Discussions centred on the role of South African missions abroad, opportunities for bilateral cooperation, and lessons from Singapore’s governance system. The delegation also met representatives from the South African Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, who shared perspectives on Singapore’s business environment and sustainability landscape.
Throughout their engagements with Singapore-based institutions, stakeholders provided the delegation with a deeper understanding of how global geopolitical and economic developments shape strategic decision-making. The students explored issues such as digital transformation, ESG adoption, entrepreneurship, and the future of work—topics central to Singapore’s economic positioning and regional influence.
The visit further underscored Singapore’s role as a gateway to Asia and a trusted platform for knowledge exchange. Through such educational collaborations, Singapore continues to enhance its links with South Africa, fostering people-to-people connections while promoting shared opportunities in innovation, leadership development, and sustainable growth.
