Singapore Manufacturing Federation hosted Beijing’s industry leaders to advance cross-border manufacturing and technology partnerships.
The Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) welcomed a business delegation from Beijing in a move to strengthen bilateral industrial and technological cooperation. The delegation was led by Mr Yan Weiqun, Deputy Director of the United Front Work Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee, Party Secretary and Executive Vice Chairman of the Beijing Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce.
During the visit, SMF President Mr Lennon Tan held a strategic dialogue with the group, which comprised 12 founders and senior executives representing key sectors such as robotics, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and e-commerce. The meeting provided both sides with an opportunity to exchange views on the rapidly evolving manufacturing landscape across the Asia-Pacific.

Discussions centred on the exploration of cross-border partnerships between Singaporean and Beijing-based companies. Participants highlighted areas of mutual interest, including technology integration, industrial upgrading, and collaborative ventures aimed at strengthening regional supply chain resilience.
SMF shared insights on Singapore’s role as an innovation hub and gateway to Southeast Asia, emphasising the importance of fostering industry connectivity and developing opportunities that support members’ internationalisation goals. The federation noted that engagement with dynamic counterparts such as Beijing enhances Singapore’s own manufacturing ecosystem.
The session concluded with both sides expressing interest in continued dialogue and collaboration. The engagement underscored SMF’s commitment to building strategic bridges for its members and supporting sustainable economic growth across the region.
