
Thai parliamentarians visited Singapore to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation and mark 60 years of bilateral ties.
On 23 November 2025, Singapore welcomed the Thailand–Singapore Parliamentarians’ Friendship Group during their official visit to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The delegation was received by Mrs Chonlatee Chanrachakul, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Thailand in Singapore, who provided an overview of the longstanding and multifaceted relationship between Singapore and Thailand.
During the briefing, Captain Thammarat Tiabtiam, Defence and Naval Attaché and Acting Defence Attaché at the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore, presented insights on Singapore’s security landscape, including the national service framework and the country’s reserve system. The discussion offered the delegation a deeper understanding of Singapore’s defence policies and long-term security approach.

The Friendship Group, led by the Honourable Mr Romtham Khumnurak, President of the Group and Member of the Thai House of Representatives, was in Singapore from 23 to 27 November 2025. The visit included engagements with representatives of the Parliament of Singapore aimed at strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, enhancing legislative exchanges, and deepening institutional linkages.
In addition to parliamentary engagements, the delegation conducted study visits across various sectors, including green urban development, public transport systems, urban management, tourism, education, law enforcement, and smart-city technologies. These visits enabled the Group to gain practical insights into Singapore’s urban solutions and governance models.
The visit underscored the shared commitment of both countries to deepening cooperation, fostering people-to-people ties, and advancing collaboration in areas integral to sustainable development and modern governance.
