
Singapore and Johor leaders met in Johor Bahru to discuss ongoing collaboration and enhancements to bilateral economic linkages.
Minister of State for National Development and for Trade and Industry Mr Alvin Tan met Johor Menteri Besar YB Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi and Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Mr Liew Chin Tong during a visit to Johor Bahru this week. The meeting reviewed the latest developments following a productive year of cooperation between Singapore and Johor.
Mr Tan reaffirmed Singapore’s commitment to the implementation of the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), a flagship initiative aimed at deepening economic integration and expanding opportunities for businesses on both sides of the Causeway. The leaders also discussed additional ways to improve cross-border linkages, including facilitation measures that support trade, movement, and investment flows.

Both sides noted the strong progress made in 2025 and expressed confidence in continued collaboration. They emphasised that close cooperation between Singapore and Johor remained essential to improving the lives of people in both regions and strengthening long-term economic resilience.
The meeting concluded with a shared intention to build on current momentum and further enhance bilateral cooperation in 2026.
