Ambassador Catherine Wong made an introductory call on Thailand’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Ukris Boontanondha, on 15 December 2025. The meeting took place in Thailand as part of ongoing diplomatic and defence engagements between the two countries.

During the call, Ambassador Wong and General Ukris reaffirmed the excellent defence ties between Singapore and Thailand, noting that defence cooperation remains a key pillar of the bilateral relationship. Both sides highlighted the importance of regular engagements and exchanges at various levels in sustaining mutual trust and operational cooperation.

The discussion took place against the backdrop of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Thailand in 2025. Both parties acknowledged the longstanding partnership and its contribution to regional stability and security.

Ambassador Wong also expressed Singapore’s appreciation to the Royal Thai Armed Forces for their assistance to Singaporeans affected by the recent flooding in Hat Yai. The support was recognised as an example of close cooperation and goodwill between the two countries.

The Singapore Embassy indicated that it looked forward to working closely with General Ukris and the Royal Thai Armed Forces to further strengthen Singapore–Thailand defence and bilateral ties in the years ahead.
