Indian industry leaders met President Tharman Shanmugaratnam on 10 February 2026 in Singapore to deepen economic cooperation and discuss global trends.

The CII Core Group on Singapore called on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, on 10 February 2026 in Singapore. The meeting focused on strengthening economic cooperation between India and Singapore and reviewing global business developments.

The delegation was led by N Chandrasekaran, Leader of the Core Group and Executive Chairman of Tata Sons. Other members included Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII); Rajiv Memani, Regional Managing Partner of EY Africa India region and Chair of EY Growth Markets Council; Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman and Managing Director of Bajaj Finserv Limited; Naushad Forbes, Co-Chairman of Forbes Marshall; Suchitra Ella, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech; Nikhil Sawhney, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Triveni Turbines; and Udayant Malhoutra, CEO and Managing Director of Dynamatic Technologies.

HE Dr Shilpak Ambule, High Commissioner of India to Singapore, was present at all meetings with the CII delegation. His participation added value through a collaborative approach and further strengthened India-Singapore engagement.

During the discussions, both sides highlighted India’s position as one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. They noted strong growth in digitalisation, advanced manufacturing, and innovation. The leaders also discussed global developments such as the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence and the need for supply chain diversification.

The meeting included an exchange of views on expanding bilateral cooperation and promoting ASEAN–India economic integration. The long-standing partnership between India and Singapore was also emphasized.

The Confederation of Indian Industry has been making annual visits to Singapore since 1993. Through regular dialogues, business ventures, investment promotion activities, and student internship programmes, CII has played a key role in strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

President Tharman extended his best wishes to the delegation for productive meetings in Singapore and expressed hope for continued engagement in the future.
