Singapore’s Defence Minister discussed global security issues with young leaders at the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

Singapore’s Minister for Defence, Mr Chan Chun Sing, spoke at the 17th Munich Young Leaders (MYL) Roundtable. The event was held on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference in Munich, Germany.

The MYL Roundtable brought together over 20 young leaders from governments, think-tanks, and the private sector. Participants came from the Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas. They discussed issues related to foreign and security policy.

At the session, Mr Chan spoke about the changing global geopolitical landscape. He also discussed the security situation in the Indo-Pacific region and Singapore’s defence and security policies.

On the sidelines of the conference, Mr Chan met several international leaders. He had engagements with Finland’s Minister of Defence, Antti Häkkänen; Lithuania’s Minister of National Defence, Robertas Kaunas; New Zealand’s Minister of Defence, Judith Collins; Sweden’s Minister for Defence, Dr Pål Jonson; and Canada’s Minister of National Defence, David McGuinty. He also met NATO Deputy Secretary-General Radmila Šekerinska.

In addition, Mr Chan met with Dr Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates.

The meetings took place during the 62nd Munich Security Conference and focused on defence and security cooperation amid global challenges.
