Singapore Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong will visit Guangxi and Shanghai in China from 18 to 22 May 2026 to strengthen bilateral ties and regional cooperation.

Senior Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong will visit Guangxi and Shanghai in the People’s Republic of China from 18 to 22 May 2026, as part of efforts to deepen Singapore’s ties with China at the regional level and build on the momentum of recent high-level exchanges between the two countries.

In Guangxi, Senior Minister Lee will meet and be hosted to dinner by Secretary of Communist Party of China of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee Chen Gang. He is also expected to conduct site visits to better understand Guangxi’s role in advancing connectivity between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China, with the region serving as a major gateway linking China with Southeast Asia.

In Shanghai, Senior Minister Lee will meet and attend a dinner hosted by Mayor of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government Gong Zheng. During the visit, he will also tour companies to gain insights into broader technological developments and innovation in China.

Senior Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Manpower of Singapore Shawn Huang and Member of Parliament for Jalan Besar GRC Wan Rizal will accompany Senior Minister Lee, alongside officials from Singapore’s Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Digital Development and Information, and Ministry of Manpower.
