The Philippine Embassy in Singapore launched the 2026 edition of “Manila Meets Madrid” to celebrate the 57th anniversary of Philippines-Singapore diplomatic relations and National Heritage Month with a cultural and culinary showcase.
On 18 May 2026, Philippine Embassy in Singapore, in partnership with The Orchard Hotel Singapore, officially launched the 2026 edition of “Manila Meets Madrid” at The Orchard Café in Singapore.
The event marked the 57th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Singapore, while also celebrating the Philippines’ National Heritage Month. The gathering brought together representatives from the Singapore Government, business sector, diplomatic community, media, key opinion leaders, and members of the Filipino community in Singapore.

In his remarks, Mr. Medardo G. Macaraig, Philippine Ambassador to Singapore, highlighted the growing cooperation between the Philippines and Singapore in areas such as trade, investments, innovation, security, and regional stability.
Mr. Macaraig emphasized that Singapore remains one of the Philippines’ most important economic and strategic partners within ASEAN. He noted that both countries continue to strengthen a partnership founded on shared values, mutual trust, and a common vision for a peaceful and prosperous region.
He also cited the recent completion of the new Philippine Embassy chancery in Singapore, made possible with the support of the Singapore Government, as a renewed symbol of the enduring friendship between the two nations.

A short video presentation showcasing key milestones in 57 years of Philippines-Singapore bilateral relations was screened following the Ambassador’s remarks.
The programme also featured a musical performance by Iveca Ignacio, a Filipina nurse and performer based in Singapore, whose participation reflected the valuable contributions and talents of Filipinos working across different sectors in Singapore.
This year’s “Manila Meets Madrid” showcase features an expanded Filipino culinary experience developed in collaboration with visiting chefs from The Heritage Hotel Manila and the culinary team of The Orchard Hotel Singapore. The buffet includes classic Filipino dishes, regional specialties, desserts, as well as selected Spanish and international cuisine.

To complement the culinary showcase, the venue was decorated with traditional kiping ornaments inspired by the Pahiyas Festival, adding a vibrant touch of Filipino cultural heritage to the celebration.
