Nestled at the foot of the majestic Mount Santubong, Sarawak Cultural Village offers visitors an immersive journey through the diverse cultures that have shaped Malaysia’s largest state. Established in 1991, the award-winning living museum spans 17 acres and serves as a vibrant showcase of Sarawak’s rich heritage, traditions and way of life. Home to 26 ethnic groups, Sarawak is renowned for its remarkable cultural diversity, making the village one of the state’s most fascinating attractions.

Designed to preserve and promote Sarawak’s unique cultural identity, the village features authentic replicas of traditional dwellings belonging to seven of the state’s major ethnic communities: the Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, Malay, Melanau, Chinese and Penan. Visitors can explore the distinctive Bidayuh and Iban longhouses, the Orang Ulu longhouse, the Penan hut, the Melanau Rumah Tinggi, the Malay House and the Chinese Farmhouse, each offering a glimpse into the daily lives, customs and traditions of these communities.

What sets Sarawak Cultural Village apart is its interactive approach to cultural preservation. Throughout the village, guests can engage directly with traditional practices, learn about indigenous craftsmanship and witness demonstrations of age-old skills passed down through generations. Traditional food, musical instruments, dances and cultural artefacts are displayed throughout the grounds, providing a comprehensive insight into the region’s rich multicultural heritage.
