The Embassy of Denmark in Singapore has donated a collection of Danish literature to the National Library Board (NLB), marking another milestone in the growing cultural partnership between Denmark and Singapore. The books, which include works by Danish authors as well as titles exploring Denmark’s society, history and values, will be available to readers at the National Library Singapore and Punggol Regional Library.
The donation follows a meaningful exchange initiated during the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Last year, the Embassy of Denmark received 60 books from the National Library as a commemorative gift, recognising six decades of friendship and cooperation. The latest contribution from Denmark returns the gesture, highlighting the enduring importance of cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

Through this initiative, both countries reaffirm the role of literature as a bridge between cultures. By making Danish stories and perspectives more accessible to readers in Singapore, the collection offers opportunities to explore different traditions, historical experiences and social values. Such exchanges encourage greater empathy and appreciation for the diversity that enriches international partnerships.

The Embassy expressed its appreciation to the National Library Board Singapore for its warm collaboration in bringing the initiative to life. Over the coming months, the Embassy will also introduce selected titles from the donated collection on its Facebook and Instagram platforms, inviting readers to discover Danish literature, history, culture and even cuisine. The campaign aims to inspire more people in Singapore to explore Denmark through its stories and perhaps find their next favourite read.
