
Thailand’s Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs led the country’s delegation to the 41st ASEAN–Japan Forum in Singapore, where discussions also touched on preparations for Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027 and Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2028.
The Thai delegation, led by Mr Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, participated in the 41st ASEAN–Japan Forum held in Singapore on 25–26 June 2026. The annual forum brought together representatives from ASEAN Member States and Japan to discuss regional cooperation, strategic priorities, and developments in the ASEAN–Japan partnership.
Mrs Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Ambassador-designate of Thailand to Singapore, welcomed the delegation upon their arrival and provided support throughout the visit. Her presence underscored Thailand’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic engagement and ensuring close coordination during important regional meetings hosted in Singapore.

On the sidelines of the forum, Ambassador-designate Waraphannee and Deputy Permanent Secretary Chettaphan held a working luncheon to exchange views on a range of official matters. Their discussions focused on regional priorities and the importance of maintaining close cooperation within ASEAN as the organisation prepares for upcoming leadership transitions.
Among the key topics discussed were preparations for Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027 and Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2028. The meeting reflected both countries’ shared commitment to supporting ASEAN’s unity, continuity, and forward-looking agenda as they prepare to assume successive chairmanships.
The 41st ASEAN–Japan Forum provided a valuable platform for advancing dialogue between ASEAN and Japan while reinforcing cooperation among ASEAN Member States. Thailand’s active participation highlighted its continued engagement in regional diplomacy and its readiness to contribute to ASEAN’s evolving priorities in the years ahead.
