NLB programme explores Italy through literature and discussion.
The Embassy of Italy in Singapore is supporting Travelog: Italy, a literary programme by the National Library Board (NLB) that introduces readers to Italy through its literary works.
The programme opens on 2 July 2026 at the Central Public Library with an introductory session on two Italian novels: My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante and Family Lexicon by Natalia Ginzburg. Led by Clare, founder of the online book club Study Hall, the session provides an overview of the books, their authors, and the historical and cultural contexts in which they were written.
According to the Embassy of Italy in Singapore, the programme offers participants “a literary journey through Italy” by exploring the country’s history, culture and society through fiction.
A follow-up Book Party will be held on 27 August 2026, where participants will gather to discuss the two books after completing their reading.
As part of NLB’s Travelog series, the programme continues to promote cultural exchange through literature, bringing readers together to discover Italy’s literary heritage and engage in discussions that extend beyond the final page.
