The Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) convened in Manila on 18 July 2026 for its seventh meeting of the year, marking the formal commencement of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and Related Meetings. The gathering brought together the Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member States to review priorities and coordinate preparations ahead of the ministerial discussions.
During the meeting, the Committee exchanged views on a broad range of issues relating to ASEAN Community-building, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to advancing regional integration across its political-security, economic, and socio-cultural pillars. The discussions reflected ASEAN’s continued efforts to strengthen cooperation and deliver tangible benefits for the peoples of Southeast Asia.
The Permanent Representatives also deliberated on matters concerning ASEAN’s external relations, underscoring the importance of maintaining constructive engagement with Dialogue Partners and other external stakeholders.
