At the ASEAN+3 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Manila, Vietnam reaffirmed its commitment to deeper regional cooperation, urging stronger economic integration, connectivity, and resilience to address emerging global challenges.
Vietnam has called for enhanced cooperation among ASEAN+3 countries to strengthen regional connectivity and resilience amid growing global uncertainties. Speaking at the ASEAN+3 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Manila, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung emphasised the importance of deepening economic integration through the effective implementation of existing trade agreements while reinforcing ASEAN+3 as a key platform for regional stability and sustainable development.
During the meeting, Minister Le highlighted the need to strengthen collaboration in energy security, food security, and regional connectivity. He proposed exploring a joint regional energy cooperation agreement to improve preparedness against external shocks, while encouraging China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea to expand support for ASEAN in areas such as digital transformation, technological innovation, electric vehicles, clean energy, and low-carbon development.
Against the backdrop of geopolitical and economic uncertainties, ASEAN+3 ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing regional resilience through closer economic cooperation and stronger implementation of the ASEAN Plus Three Cooperation Work Plan 2023–2027. Discussions also covered expanding regional rice reserves, exploring a shared petroleum reserve, strengthening renewable energy cooperation, and investing in education, workforce development, cultural exchanges, and tourism to build long-term regional capacity.
Reaffirming Vietnam’s commitment to regional cooperation, Minister Le stated that the country would continue working closely with ASEAN+3 partners to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development while delivering tangible benefits to people across the region. As ASEAN navigates an increasingly complex global landscape, stronger connectivity, innovation, and collective resilience remain central to building a more secure and prosperous future for East Asia.
