The hands-on workshop introduced participants of all ages to the colours, stories and traditions of one of India’s treasured art forms.
The High Commission of India in Singapore collaborated with Bijhar Association, Singapore, for a Madhubani painting workshop as part of India’s Independence Day 2026 celebrations. Guided by Ms Shivali Mathur, participants explored the traditional art form through a hands-on session.
The workshop welcomed participants of different ages to explore Madhubani painting under Ms Mathur’s guidance, with the hands-on session allowing them to create their own works while learning about the traditional art form.
Through the creative process, participants discovered how Madhubani’s lines, symbols and motifs convey stories linked to traditions and artistic expressions passed down through generations. The experience offered a closer appreciation of India’s rich artistic heritage.
