Chinese Ambassador to Singapore Cao Zhongming and his wife joined government representatives, members of the diplomatic community and guests from across Singapore at a special concert celebrating the 120th anniversary of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the 30th anniversary of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra.
Chinese Ambassador to Singapore Cao Zhongming and his wife recently attended Harmony, a cultural concert jointly presented by the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO). The evening brought together Ms Sim Ann, Singapore’s Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Home Affairs, members of the diplomatic community and friends from various sectors to commemorate the significant milestones of both organisations.
The concert marked SCCCI’s 120th anniversary and SCO’s 30th anniversary, celebrating their respective contributions to Singapore’s business community and cultural landscape. The occasion reflected the enduring role of both institutions in fostering connections, preserving cultural heritage and strengthening engagement within Singapore’s diverse society.
Under the baton of conductor Tsung Yeh, pipa soloist Yu Jia joined the Singapore Chinese Orchestra for an evening of Chinese orchestral music. The performances brought together traditional and contemporary musical elements, creating an experience that reflected the ability of music to connect cultures and communities.
Ambassador Cao noted that the melodies of the evening represented the harmony of Singapore’s multicultural society, bridging tradition and modernity while encouraging greater understanding across different cultures. He also extended his congratulations to SCCCI and SCO on reaching their respective milestones.
Looking ahead, Ambassador Cao expressed hope that both organisations would continue to build bridges through business and foster friendships through music. He highlighted their potential role in advancing people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Singapore, while deepening mutual understanding among communities and peoples around the world.
