Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, H.E. Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin, held an introductory call with Mr. Laurence Bay, Director-General of the Southeast Asia I Directorate, on 27 August 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on Malaysia-Singapore relations, bilateral priorities and continued cooperation.

During the meeting, H.E. Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin and Mr. Laurence Bay shared fond recollections of experiences and friendships from the early years of their respective service. The exchange highlighted the importance of maintaining strong bilateral relations at all levels, including among young officers.

The two sides discussed the value of sustaining close working relationships among officials in advancing their shared mandates and interests, while preserving the spirit of friendship that characterises relations between Malaysia and Singapore.

The discussion also covered key priorities on the bilateral agenda for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027. Both sides expressed their commitment to further deepening relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The introductory call reflected continued engagement between Malaysian and Singaporean officials and provided a platform to exchange perspectives on the bilateral relationship and priorities for the coming period.
