The Singapore Business Federation (SBF), led by Chairman Mr Mark Lee, held a series of high-level business engagements in Jakarta this week with key Indonesian business and investment organisations. The engagements included renewed discussions with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO), and discussions with Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara) on Indonesia’s investment priorities.

The engagements focused on practical opportunities for Singapore and Indonesian businesses, including trade, investment, policy dialogue, capability building, talent development and workforce cooperation. They also took place as Singapore prepares to assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027.

During discussions with KADIN, both sides reviewed practical outcomes under the two-year MOU signed at the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat in July 2026. The partnership covers three areas: digital enablement, including the rollout of SBF’s Trade AI Advisor (TAIA) Indonesia; policy engagement through business forums and roundtables; and capability building through business matching and workshops. Both sides also discussed cooperation on sustainability and decarbonisation.

The SBF delegation also signed an MOU with APINDO, represented by Chairman Ms Shinta W. Kamdani. The agreement provides a framework for cross-border business partnerships, structured dialogue and talent and workforce collaboration, including skills development, talent exchange and programmes such as Tech:X.

SBF also met Mr Dony Oskaria, Chief Operating Officer of Danantara, to discuss Indonesia’s investment priorities and opportunities for Singapore companies to contribute capital, capabilities and technical expertise to industrial development, infrastructure, energy transition and downstream development initiatives.

Mr Mark Lee said, “Singapore and Indonesia will mark 60 years of diplomatic relations next year – six decades built on trust between our governments and businesses.” He added that SBF was committed to translating high-level cooperation into opportunities in cross-border trade, investment and capability-building.

Ms Shinta Kamdani said the MOU would serve as “the platform for what we can build together”, with its value measured through business connections, investment opportunities, talent development and stronger business networks between Indonesia and Singapore.
