Philippine Embassy in Singapore observes ManaMo 2026 with maritime rights awareness ceremony
The Philippine Embassy in Singapore and its partner agencies held a special Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, 7 September 2026, to observe the 2026 Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (ManaMo 2026). The ceremony, conducted as part of the month-long national observance, highlighted the Philippines’ commitment to maritime rights, the protection of its seas and the preservation of its archipelagic heritage.
Personnel of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore and its partner agencies participated in the ceremony wearing blue in solidarity with the 2026 ManaMo campaign. The observance was held under the theme, “Karapatan sa Karagatan, Sama-sama nating Alagaan,” which calls attention to the Philippines’ maritime rights and shared responsibility for caring for its marine environment and archipelagic heritage.
During the ceremony, commemorative messages from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro were shared with the participants.
In his message, President Marcos noted the relevance of this year’s observance alongside the 10th anniversary of the South China Sea Arbitral Award. He said, “This year’s observance, held alongside the 10th anniversary of the South China Sea Arbitral Award, offers a timely occasion to uphold, affirm and reiterate our country’s lawful rights and entitlements.”
The Flag Raising Ceremony provided an opportunity for Philippine Embassy personnel and partner agencies in Singapore to observe ManaMo 2026 and highlight the importance of the country’s maritime rights and archipelagic identity.
The Philippine Embassy also called on Filipinos in Singapore to participate in the #BlueThursday campaign throughout September. As part of the campaign, Filipino communities and individuals were encouraged to wear anything blue on Thursdays as a show of solidarity with the national observance.
ManaMo 2026 is being observed throughout September under the theme “Karapatan sa Karagatan, Sama-sama nating Alagaan.” The Philippine Embassy in Singapore’s participation reflected the observance through the Flag Raising Ceremony and the promotion of the #BlueThursday campaign among Filipinos in Singapore.
