Thai naval chief visits Singapore for defence talks and military medal investiture.
Admiral Pairote Fuangchan, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, and his delegation paid an official visit to Singapore from 6–8 September 2026. During the visit, Admiral Pairote met Singapore’s Minister for Defence, Mr. Chan Chun Sing, to discuss military cooperation between Thailand and Singapore and opportunities to further expand bilateral defence cooperation.
H.E. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Singapore, welcomed Admiral Pairote and his delegation at the VIP Complex of Changi Airport on 6 September. Later that evening, Ambassador Waraphannee hosted a dinner in honour of Admiral Pairote and the delegation at the Thai Ambassador’s Residence.
As part of the official visit, Admiral Pairote paid a courtesy call on Mr. Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Defence of Singapore. The meeting covered overall military cooperation between Thailand and Singapore, the Singapore Minister for Defence’s visit to Thailand, and opportunities to further develop bilateral defence cooperation in the future.
The discussions provided an opportunity for the two sides to exchange views on ongoing military relations and future areas of cooperation. The engagement took place in the context of the Royal Thai Navy Commander-in-Chief’s official visit to Singapore and included participation by Ambassador Waraphannee.
On the same occasion, Admiral Pairote was conferred the Meritorious Service Medal (Military) by Singapore’s Minister for Defence. Ambassador Waraphannee attended both the courtesy call and the investiture ceremony.
The official visit concluded on 8 September 2026 following the delegation’s engagements in Singapore. The visit included senior-level discussions on Thailand-Singapore military cooperation and the presentation of the Meritorious Service Medal (Military) to Admiral Pairote.
