Singaporeans in Doha gathered to celebrate the nation’s 61st National Day and the 60th anniversary of the National Pledge, under the theme “Majulah Singapura – Go Beyond.”
The Embassy of Singapore in Doha hosted a reception for over 300 overseas Singaporeans and their families to celebrate Singapore’s 61st National Day, bringing together members of the community for an evening of reflection and connection.
Organisers noted that distance often sharpens the connection to home, and that gathering together in Doha served as a poignant reminder of the enduring bonds that unite the Singaporean community, or “kampung,” across borders.
This year’s celebration held particular significance, marking 60 years since the introduction of Singapore’s National Pledge. Its values, organisers noted, are not merely words recited but principles put into action, citing the quiet strength, empathy and solidarity Singaporeans have shown during periods including the COVID-19 pandemic and recent regional conflicts.

This spirit is reflected in this year’s National Day theme, “Majulah Singapura – Go Beyond,” which calls on Singaporeans to look ahead with resilience, purpose and compassion. Every Singaporean abroad, the Embassy noted, carries a piece of that story, serving as a bridge of goodwill between Singapore and the world.
The Embassy extended its thanks to all who attended, for their warmth and presence in making the Doha reception a true home away from home for the community gathered there.
