Chinese Ambassador to Singapore H.E. Cao Zhongming addressed 500 guests at the inaugural summit, marking the 5th anniversary of the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
H.E. Cao Zhongming, Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, delivered a Guest-of-Honour address at the 2026 CGS China-ASEAN Business Leaders Summit, held in Singapore on 21 and 22 September 2026. The summit was co-hosted by CGS International Securities and the China Enterprises Association (Singapore), together with organising partner SGX Group and Strategic Bank Partner UOB.
In his address, Ambassador Cao noted that this year marks the 5th anniversary of the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with both sides having achieved fruitful outcomes in cooperation across various fields. He expressed hope that entrepreneurs from China and ASEAN would seize development opportunities, tap deeper into the potential of two-way investment, and grow stronger together.
The summit, themed “Where Two Blocs Meet,” have 500 guests including policymakers and institutional investors from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and China. Discussions focused on deepening trade, manufacturing and supply chain linkages between China and ASEAN, and on translating capital inflows into lasting regional outcomes.
Ambassador Cao’s address was delivered alongside remarks from Laksono Widodo, Chief Investment Officer of the Indonesia Investment Authority, and Edward Zhang of China Investment Corporation, reflecting the breadth of regional institutional participation at the summit.
The summit shows the growing role of capital markets connectivity in the broader China-ASEAN relationship, complementing the trade and manufacturing ties that have long defined regional economic cooperation.
