ASEAN engineering leaders discussed regional cooperation and the development of the engineering profession.
Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs Mr. Nararya S. Soeprapto attended the opening of the 44th Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO 44) on 20 October 2026 in Bandung, Indonesia. The opening ceremony highlighted the role of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO) in advancing regional cooperation and supporting the development of the engineering profession among ASEAN Member States.
The ceremony featured remarks by ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, alongside representatives of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO) and the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII). Their participation reflected the involvement of regional and international engineering organisations in discussions concerning the profession and its contribution to cooperation within the ASEAN region.
CAFEO 44 served as a conference organised under the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations, a regional federation of national engineering institutions. The event provided a platform for engineering organisations and professional representatives to address matters related to the engineering profession and regional engagement.
Mr. Nararya S. Soeprapto’s attendance represented ASEAN Secretariat participation in the conference’s opening. As Deputy Secretary-General for Community and Corporate Affairs, he attended an event that highlighted the role of engineering organisations in supporting regional cooperation. ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn also delivered remarks during the ceremony, placing the ASEAN Secretariat among the institutional participants at the opening.
