Initiative provides practical guidance to help furniture businesses improve resource efficiency and competitiveness.
Singapore has launched a Sustainability Playbook for the Furniture Industry to help businesses adopt greener practices, improve resource efficiency and strengthen their long-term competitiveness amid growing demand for sustainable products.
Developed by Enterprise Singapore in partnership with EY and the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC), the playbook was created in consultation with local furniture companies and industry experts. It provides practical guidance for businesses throughout the furniture value chain as they begin or deepen their sustainability efforts.
The initiative comes as sustainability becomes an increasingly important consideration for both consumers and businesses. By adopting more resource-efficient processes and sustainable practices, furniture companies can respond to changing market expectations while identifying new opportunities for business growth.
The playbook is part of wider industry efforts to support the development and promotion of sustainable furniture products. It complements the Sustainability Furniture Mark (SFM) Progressive Framework and industry partnerships announced by SFIC the previous week.
Together, these initiatives aim to provide businesses with support across the furniture ecosystem, encouraging the adoption of sustainable practices and helping the industry build its capacity to develop and promote furniture products with improved environmental credentials.
Through the combined efforts of Enterprise Singapore, EY and SFIC, the initiative seeks to support the furniture industry’s transition towards more sustainable production and business practices while maintaining its competitiveness in the evolving market.
