Philippines Embassy attends event that singled out outstanding workers at Changi Airport
ON 15th March 2204, Assistant Labor Attaché and Officer-in-Charge of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO)-Singapore, Atty. Eduard Ferrer, and Welfare Officer Florencio Teves III attended the Changi Extra Mile Award ceremony at the Changi Experience Studio. They were invited by Ms. Katrina Quitain, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) serving as an airport supervisor at Changi Airport and acting as MWO’s contact person in the information area.
Ms. Quitain and her team, along with fellow OFW Maria Christina Garcia, received the Outstanding Team Award for their exceptional dedication in assisting stranded and distressed OFW passengers. Ms. Quitain also received two individual awards under the same category for her consistent efforts in aiding distressed OFW passengers.
Ms. Quitain acknowledged the prompt actions of the Philippine Embassy, MWO, and OWWA, even during late hours, for facilitating travel arrangements and providing food allowances to distressed airport passengers.
Another Filipino awardee, Mr. John Eric Cepillo, received the Outstanding Staff Award and the One Changi Leaders’ Choice Award for his exemplary dedication in assisting distressed Changi airport passengers.
The Changi Extra Mile Award is a quarterly celebration by Changi Airport management to recognize exceptional service by members of the airport community for the benefit of its passengers.
Philippine Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig commended the three Filipino workers for their dedication and client-oriented service, stating, “Their exemplary work ethic not only reflects positively on the Filipino community but also contributes to enhancing the reputation of the Philippines in Singapore.”
