General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohammad bin Ab Rahman reaffirms bilateral defence ties with Singapore during introductory visit.
Malaysian Armed Forces Chief of Defence Forces, General (GEN) Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohammad bin Ab Rahman, paid an introductory visit to Singapore from May 13 to 15, 2024. This morning, he called on Minister for Defence Dr. Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), where both leaders reaffirmed the warm and long-standing bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Malaysia.
During their meeting, Dr. Ng and GEN Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohammad agreed on the importance of furthering bilateral cooperation and deepening people-to-people ties between the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF).
As part of his visit, GEN Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohammad also met with Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral Aaron Beng and inspected the Guard of Honour at MINDEF. His itinerary included visits to Sembawang Air Base, the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Cybersecurity and Information Centre of Excellence, and the Information Fusion Centre at Changi Naval Base.
GEN Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohammad’s visit underscores the robust and enduring bilateral defence relations between Singapore and Malaysia. The armed forces of both nations interact regularly through various activities such as bilateral exercises, professional exchanges, and visits. They also participate in multilateral platforms like the Five Power Defence Arrangements and the ADMM/ADMM-Plus, which have enhanced professional ties and mutual understanding among their personnel.
