Singapore, 13 September 2024 – Meinhardt Group celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Singapore headquarters, a significant milestone in the company’s global journey. Founded in 1955 and expanding into Singapore in 1974, Meinhardt has grown from a 10-staff office to a global firm with over 6,000 employees across 61 offices worldwide. Executive Chairman Dr. S. Nasim expressed pride in the firm’s achievements, stating, “This is a significant milestone marking half a century of Meinhardt’s engineering achievements and dedication to shaping the future of cities.” Dr. Nasim also highlighted the firm’s transformative impact on Singapore’s skyline, noting, “We have been privileged to play a significant role in shaping Singapore’s built environment and are excited to continue this journey.”
Meinhardt’s contributions include engineering feats such as the Marina Coastal Expressway, Singapore’s first undersea traffic tunnel, and sustainable projects like 8 Shenton Way, Singapore’s tallest skyscraper with Green Mark Platinum certification. “As we celebrate our Golden Jubilee, we recognise the immense contribution of our dedicated staff, valued clients, and partners who have been instrumental in our success,” Dr. Nasim added, emphasizing the firm’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. Notable projects like Marina Bay Financial Centre, Gardens by the Bay, and Sengkang General Hospital showcase Meinhardt’s diverse expertise across infrastructure, healthcare, and public housing.
Some Projects
As part of its anniversary, Meinhardt reaffirmed its dedication to sustainability and digital transformation. “Our partnership with IMDA is a testament to our commitment to leveraging technology to drive innovation and efficiency in the Built Environment sector,” said CEO Mr. Omar Shahzad, referring to the firm’s collaboration with Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). Through the Digital Leaders Programme, Meinhardt is developing AI tools such as the Generative AI Urban Consultancy Augmentation Tool and the AI Analytics for Built Environment Tool to improve urban consultancy and asset management services.
Dr. Nasim also underscored the importance of sustainable development in the company’s future. “Singapore is committed to the global decarbonisation agenda, and our engineers and other stakeholders need to play a key role in achieving these targets.” As part of Singapore’s Green Plan 2030, Meinhardt aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 and carbon net zero by 2050, incorporating sustainable practices into every project. The firm’s projects, from net zero energy buildings to green skyscrapers, have received multiple Green Mark Awards and international recognition.
