The 17th edition of ITB Asia opens in Singapore with record participation from Africa and Europe, showcasing groundbreaking innovations and future strategies for the global travel industry

Singapore, 24 October 2024 – ITB Asia 2024, Asia’s leading travel trade show, officially opened today at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. Marking its 17th edition, the event promises to be the largest and most diverse to date, with over 85 tourism organisations and convention bureaus from around the world. This year’s show boasts a 75% increase in African exhibitors and a 25% rise in European participation, reflecting a growing global interest in travel and tourism collaboration.

The event, co-located with MICE Show Asia and Travel Tech Asia, will span three days and provide attendees with unprecedented networking opportunities. Featuring 160 expert speakers and over 100 sessions across three tracks, the conference focuses on the theme “Innovating for Tomorrow: Strengthening Future Resilience in Travel and Tourism.” Industry leaders are set to share insights on the latest trends, including advancements in MICE, corporate travel, and leisure travel technology.

Mr. Alvin Tan, Singapore’s Minister of State for Trade and Industry, along with key industry figures, officiated the opening ceremony. The ribbon-cutting was accompanied by a traditional lion dance, symbolising the event’s importance in driving forward the global tourism sector. Messe Berlin CEO, Dr. Mario Tobias, emphasised ITB Asia’s role as a hub for travel innovation, noting the increased participation as a sign of the industry’s confidence in the future.

This year’s exhibition features a wide array of participants from across the tourism supply chain, including tourism boards, airlines, hotels, and tech companies.
