Dr S. Jaishankar met with key Singaporean leaders, discussing collaborations in technology, security, and sustainable development
During his official visit to Singapore, Dr S. Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, engaged in a range of diplomatic meetings aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Singapore. As part of this effort, he conducted a series of high-profile discussions.
He met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, where they explored potential advancements in India-Singapore collaborations. Their discussions focused on expanding cooperation in industrial parks, green energy, skill development, innovation, and semiconductor manufacturing.
Dr Jaishankar also met Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, where he expressed appreciation for progress within the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Singapore. The two shared perspectives on regional and global developments, reinforcing a mutual commitment to stability and growth in the region.
In a meeting with Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong, Dr Jaishankar conveyed greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Their talks focused on enhancing technology, skill development, and industrial partnerships, along with a review of each nation’s participation in regional forums, underscoring collaborative regional growth.
Dr Jaishankar later met President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, where they discussed global political and economic scenarios and their implications for India and Singapore. This dialogue underscored a shared interest in fortifying diplomatic and economic ties amid complex global dynamics.
In addition, Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen and Dr Jaishankar engaged in a discussion on Indo-Pacific security and bilateral defence cooperation, highlighting the close defence relations and joint commitment to security in the region.
