SINGAPORE — The Philippine Embassy in Singapore marked the beginning of National Women’s Month on 3 March 2025 with a flag-raising ceremony, led by Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig and Second Secretary Jhullie Anne A. Beniahan, Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person. The event underscored this year’s theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas” (“Women in All Sectors, Elevate Tomorrow in the New Philippines”), highlighting the crucial role of women in building a progressive and inclusive society.

The embassy reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality and inclusive development by advocating for greater opportunities for women across all fields. Ambassador Macaraig emphasized the importance of ensuring that women—particularly those from underserved communities—benefit from policies that promote equal rights and representation.

In support of this, the embassy launched the “We, Men, Support Women” campaign, encouraging male allies to take an active role in promoting gender equality. This initiative builds on the embassy’s past efforts, including the WomenCan series, which aimed to inspire women to take on leadership roles and reach their full potential.

Throughout March, the embassy will continue its gender-focused programs, such as Post-Arrival Orientation Seminars (PAOS), assistance-to-nationals (ATN) services, and skills training opportunities for women Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Additionally, discussions will highlight the role of women in shaping national policies, particularly in light of the upcoming Overseas Voting for the 2025 National and Local Elections.

To further raise awareness, the embassy has designated 23 March 2025 as a special Sunday operation dedicated to serving female nationals. It also invites the Filipino community to wear purple every Wednesday (5, 12, 19, and 26 March) in support of women’s empowerment and equality. Supporters are encouraged to use the 2025 National Women’s Month Celebration Profile Frame via Twibbonize and share their advocacy online with the hashtag #WEcanbeEquALL.
