The President of Kazakhstan opened the 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana on 16 September 2025, calling for peace, dialogue, and shared moral responsibility amid global challenges.

Delegates from more than 50 countries attended the congress, including K. Elango, President of the Inter-Religious Organisation of Singapore, who joined spiritual leaders, policymakers, and experts in discussions on peacebuilding, climate change, artificial intelligence ethics, and youth engagement.

In his opening address, the President proposed the launch of a global Movement for Peace, a joint declaration on climate change, and the creation of an Interfaith Commission on AI Ethics. He underlined the critical role of spiritual leaders in shaping a peaceful, sustainable, and inclusive future.

The gathering reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s position as a hub for interfaith dialogue and international cooperation, continuing its tradition of hosting forums that encourage mutual respect, understanding, and joint solutions to pressing global issues.
