
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong underscored Singapore’s support for strengthening global economic governance and advancing sustainable development at the G20 Summit.
Singapore began its participation at the G20 Summit with substantive discussions focused on promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong joined global leaders in addressing the challenges facing the international community and emphasised the need to update global economic rules and institutions to reflect today’s strategic environment.
In his interventions, Prime Minister Wong noted that the multilateral system was under considerable strain, with geopolitical tensions and economic fragmentation affecting global stability. He stressed that reforms to institutions such as the World Trade Organization were essential to ensure they remained relevant, effective, and capable of supporting an open and fair trading system.

Prime Minister Wong also highlighted the important role of the G20 in coordinating efforts to strengthen the global economic and financial architecture. He reaffirmed Singapore’s commitment to working with partners to advance rules-based cooperation, safeguard stability, and promote economic resilience for all countries, including small and open economies.
On the sidelines of the Summit, Prime Minister Wong met with several counterparts for constructive exchanges on bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and shared priorities.
