Singapore’s Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law, Mr Edwin Tong, continued his working trip to India with a visit to Delhi on Day 2 of his programme. The main purpose of the visit was to deliver a keynote address at the SIAC Delhi Conference, where he highlighted Singapore’s commitment to working with partners across Asia to resolve disputes arising from increasing trade and investment flows.

During the conference, Mr Tong outlined how Singapore and regional stakeholders could collaborate to enhance the international dispute resolution landscape and develop systems suited for future demands. He also reconnected with India’s Union Minister of Law and Justice, H.E. Arjun Ram Meghwal, who also spoke at the event. The two ministers had previously met in Singapore for discussions on strengthening cooperation in international dispute resolution.

As part of the visit, Mr Tong met several General Counsel based in Delhi. He noted that user perspectives were essential in shaping improvements within the dispute resolution ecosystem, and that insights from in-house counsels would help ensure that reforms address practical needs.

The trip concluded with a dinner at Bukhara, a long-time favourite dining venue for Mr Tong during his visits to Delhi, before the delegation returned to Singapore.
