Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong met Indonesian Vice Minister of Finance Thomas Djiwandono on his visit to Singapore under the S R Nathan Fellowship. The Fellowship, launched in 2012, aims to promote exchanges between emerging leaders in Singapore and Indonesia.
During the meeting, Minister Lee noted his longstanding friendship with Vice Minister Djiwandono’s father, former Bank Indonesia Governor Soedradjad Djiwandono, and expressed his appreciation for the continued continuity of ties across generations. He emphasised the importance of nurturing strong relationships with Indonesia’s rising leaders.
Both sides had a wide-ranging discussion on Singapore–Indonesia relations, including opportunities to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Minister Lee described the conversation as constructive and meaningful, reflecting the warm and multifaceted partnership shared by the two countries.
Vice Minister Djiwandono is scheduled to meet a number of Singaporean leaders and institutions as part of his programme. Minister Lee wished him a fruitful and productive visit.
