
Saudi Arabia’s newly appointed ambassador to Singapore has formally assumed office, pledging to deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two countries.
SINGAPORE – H.E. Mohammad Abdullah S. Al Ghamdi, the newly appointed Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Singapore, presented his credentials to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam on January 6, 2026. This marks the beginning of his tenure, with a focus on strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
Ambassador Al Ghamdi, a seasoned diplomat with expertise in political, technical, and multilateral fields, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His impressive background includes a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from the Australian National University and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from King Saud University.

During his presentation, Ambassador Al Ghamdi conveyed warm greetings from Saudi Arabia’s leadership and emphasised his commitment to enhancing cooperation between the two nations. President Tharman Shanmugaratnam echoed this sentiment, highlighting the robust diplomatic and economic ties between Saudi Arabia and Singapore.
Separately, Editor-in-Chief Ms. Nomita Dhar called on Ambassador Al Ghamdi to welcome him to Singapore. During their meeting, he expressed admiration for Singapore’s efficiency, citing the seamless experience at the airport, smooth ride, and luggage delivery to his hotel room.
