
New Appointments Reinforce Philippine Engagement in Regional Economic Cooperation
SINGAPORE, 6 May 2026 — The Philippine Embassy in Singapore has welcomed Marc Angelo A.S. Punsalang, Chief of Mission II, as the newly seconded Philippine official to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Secretariat, where he will serve as Program Director.
Philippine Ambassador to Singapore H.E. Mr. Medardo G. Macaraig, together with Embassy officials, received Mr Punsalang during a courtesy call held at the Embassy on the morning of 6 May 2026.
A career diplomat with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Mr Punsalang previously served as Director-General of the Philippine APEC National Secretariat, bringing extensive experience in regional economic cooperation and multilateral engagement.
The Embassy also formally welcomed Teddy Edmund T. Pavon, Second Secretary and Consul, who recently completed his assignment as APEC Program Director from the Philippines and has now joined the Philippine Embassy team in Singapore.

The Philippines has been an active member of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation since its establishment in 1989, using the platform to advance regional trade, investment, economic cooperation, and inclusive growth across the Asia-Pacific region.
The latest appointments underscore the Philippines’ continued commitment to strengthening its engagement within APEC and contributing to regional economic integration and policy collaboration.
